In 2016 we brought you news that SCI launched a new SCI Member Benefit - The SCI Mentoring Programme.
The SCI Mentoring Programme is designed to fulfil SCI’s mission to support members’ careers through training, development and employment opportunities.
Seven mentoring partnerships were created under a pilot scheme which was developed in 2016. Early Career members were matched with mentors, for a period of twelve months, to gain assistance in key areas such as; networking and communication, problem solving and decision making, transitioning from academia into industry, and general career development.
Since then we have expanded the scheme and have invited members to participate as both mentors and mentees. Training sessions were run at the end of June 2017 by our mentoring consultant for mentees and mentors new to the programme. These sessions are vital in ensuring that all participants are qualified, prepared and trained in the SCI Mentoring Programme, and gives prospective mentors/mentees a grounding in what is required of them, and what to expect from their participation. We are excited at the prospect of creating new mentoring partnerships and will be confirming new matches created after the Matching Panel has met, later in the Summer.
Our next training sessions for mentors and mentees are scheduled to take place on 20 November (mentors) and 21 November (mentees). If you are interested in joining the programme and would like to book your place on one of the sessions, please email email@example.com.
