SCI connects scientists and business people from a wide range of chemistry-using industries to advance the commercial application of chemistry and related sciences for public benefit.
We focus on areas of societal need, where we have the expertise to contribute to solutions by drawing on our multi-disciplinary network and the knowledge we generate: food and biorenewables, water, waste and environment, health and well-being, materials and manufacturing and energy.
As members, you contribute by getting actively involved in SCI interest groups, sharing knowledge in meetings and via online forums. You also work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary network to create conferences and webinars that spread knowledge about advances in these fields to an even wider audience of academics and business people.
Our conferences increasingly result from collaboration between SCI groups and external partners, thereby reaching new audiences. More Crop per Drop - Raising water use efficiency, held in November 2012, was organised by SCI's BioResources, Environment and Science and Enterprise Groups, partnering with technology transfer expert, Aqua Enviro and supported by SCI journals: Biofuels, Bioproducts and Biorefining (Biofpr), Science of Food and Agriculture and Pest Management Science, as well as the Centre for Ecology and Hydrology.
There are many more examples and I look forward to seeing SCI Groups increase collaboration around our key themes in the future, linking with our publications where relevant, to reinforce SCI's expertise.
