SCI is pleased to bring you information on Parliamentary Links Day, taking place on Tuesday 28 June, where this year, SCI is a supporting partner.
Parliamentary Links Day is organised by SCI’s partner organisation Royal Society of Biology on behalf of other scientific organisations and is the largest science event on the annual Parliamentary events calendar. The event brings together scientists, learned societies and Members of Parliament.
It is organised on behalf of Nicola Blackwood MP (Chair of the Science and Technology Select Committee), Stephen Metcalfe MP (Chair of the Parliamentary and Scientific Committee), Carol Monaghan MP (Shadow SNP Westminster Group Leader for Public Services and Education) and Yvonne Fovargue MP (Shadow Minister for Business, Innovation and Skills).
This year’s theme will be Science After the Referendum: What Next? and will feature talks from Rt Hon John Bercow MP (the Speaker), Jo Johnson MP (Minister for Universities and Science) and the Earl of Selborne (Chair of the House of Lords Science and Technology Select Committee), as well as Nicola Blackwood MP, Stephen Metcalfe MP, Carol Monaghan MP and Yvonne Fovargue MP.
The two panel sessions will deal with ‘Science and Europe’ and ‘Science and the Wider World’ with contributions from Dame Jocelyn Bell Burnell and Prof Alex Halliday FRS.
This will be followed by a networking lunch at the House of Lords. SCI will be represented at the events by Sharon Todd - Executive Director, and key SCI contacts from academia and industry. Neil Carson OBE, Honorary President of SCI, will also attend the lunch at the House of Lords.
