24 Aug 2016
The SCI Fine Chemicals Group invites you to join then on Monday 19 - Tuesday 20 September 2016 for the return of A Celebration of Organic Chemistry at Syngenta, Jealott's Hill International Research Centre, Berkshire.
Influential researchers from across the UK, Europe and US will gather to present a series of lectures on the latest developments in the field of organic chemistry. This event is an excellent opportunity to hear about the latest developments, both in the arena of natural product synthesis, and also new methodology development.
The programme will also explore some of the future research opportunities available to scientists working in the field.
Day one starts with presentations from Prof Andrew Smith (University of St Andrew's, UK) on Enantioselective Lewis base catalysis: case studies in synthesis and mechanism followed by Dr James Scutt (Syngenta, UK) on New approaches to the design and synthesis of inhibitors of acetyl CoA carboxylase. The afternoon session will see Dr Franziska Schoenebeck (RWTH Aachen University, Germany) presenting Adventures in catalysis - from mechanisms to applications and Dr Ross Denton (University of Nottingham, UK) talking about Phosphorus and Silicon: new synthesis methods and applications. Prof Dr Jeffrey Bode (ETC Zürich, Switzerland) will follow with a presentation on Cross Couplings for the synthesis of saturated N-Heterocycles with SnAP and SLAP reagents. The presentations will draw to a close with a look at Methods to access small, medium and large heterocycles by Prof Janine Cossy, ESPCI Paris Tech, France
The second day will start with Recent developments in Palladium-catalyzed carbonylation chemistry presented by Prof Troels Skrydstrup (Aarhus University, Denmark). Dr Ai-Lan Lee (Heriot-Watt University, UK) will then cover Development of Gold and Palladium-catalysed reactions. The last presentation of the morning will be from Prof Ed Anderson (University of Oxford, UK) on Selectivity and mechanism in transition metal-catalyzed heterocycle synthesis. The afternoon will see Dr Andrew Lawrence (University of Edinburgh, UK) talk about Biomimetic natural product synthesis. Prof Hon Wai Lam (University of Nottingham, UK) will cover New directions in Allylrhodium chemistry for catalytic C-C bond-forming reactions. The afternoon will draw to a close with Prof Christina White (University of Illinois, USA) talking about The functionalisation of C-H Bonds.
This meeting will prove of particular interest to scientists engaged in the development or application of organic synthetic chemistry methodology. It will also prove of interest to any scientist wishing to be informed of the latest developments in this field of research.
There will be ample opportunities throughout conference to network, including lunch and coffee breaks and a wine reception at the end of the first day.
There will also be an exhibition, where you will be able to meet potential suppliers and partner organisations. If you are interested in exhibiting, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
