Samantha Stanzel completed her undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering at the University of Ottawa in December 2019. She was the recipient of the University Gold Medal for the highest academic standing within the Faculty of Engineering and had the honour of representing the graduating class as valedictorian.

The remaining two terms were industry-based, with a focus in process and reservoir engineering.

During her final year, Samantha was part a four-person undergraduate team that proposed the design of a theoretical diethyl ether production facility. This work was awarded first place at the Hatch Plant Design Competition when presented at the 2019 Canadian Chemical Engineering Conference.

Currently, Samantha works as an Operations Engineer-in-Training at Shell Canada. In her spare time Samantha enjoys playing ultimate frisbee, hiking and delving into the world of cooking. She hopes to apply the skills she learned throughout her undergraduate degree to make positive contributions as an engineer.
