Agri-innovation 2014: Join the innovators

Join colleagues from major plant science companies, SMEs, research institutes, universities and funding bodies already registered for a day of information, inspiration and innovation. Agri-innovation 2014: Emerging science and technologies for crop research, a conference organised by SCI's BioResources Group, the Royal Society of Chemistry and AGRI-net will showcase some of the current research areas directed towards achieving a sustainable intensification of crop production. The event will be held at Imperial College, London on 25 March 2014.

Speakers on the programme represent leading research institutes, universities and crop science companies in the UK and Europe. Exhibitors include Lambda Photometrics, Ocean Optics, LGC Genomics and Springer. The event will appeal to academic and industrial scientists involved in all aspects of crop research, and other stakeholders interested in catching up on the latest scientific developments.

First up will be papers looking at increasing crop potential through advances in synthetic biology, optimisation of photosynthesis and understanding the effects of biotic and abiotic stress on plants. These will be followed by news of efforts towards protecting the potential, including techniques for diagnosing and mitigating herbicide resistance and using RNAi technology to control insect pests. A final session on diagnostics and delivery will showcase developments in sensing and in-field diagnostics for crop protection as well as advanced formulation techniques for the precise delivery of crop protection products.

PhD students and others will be presenting posters on topics including stress tolerance, nutrient uptake and pest resistance. There are a few poster places left, so don't miss a great opportunity to present either plans for work or experimental results and to make new contacts - who may well be gateways to new ideas for research and careers.
