The Electrochem meetings have been a major forum for the electrochemical community in the UK for 18 years. This year the theme of the conference is:

Electrochemistry: an interdisciplinary science.

The meeting will aim to develop a deep understanding of electrochemical phenomena and the impact that they have on different applications. The objective is to include more industrial partners and collaborators to contribute to a closer relationship between electrochemical science and its applications.

The meeting will cover a wide range of aspects related to electrochemical science and technology which will be covered by these symposia:

  1. Fundamental electrochemistry: Frank Marken, Andrea Russell and Jay Wadhawan
  2. Materials and nanomaterials: Stephen Fletcher and Natasa Vasiljevic
  3. Electrochemical engineering and technology, industrial developments: Frank Walsh and G. Kelsall
  4. Corrosion sciences and engineering: Julian Wharton       
  5. Energy storage: batteries, redox flow cells, supercapacitors: John Owen and Laurence Hardwick 
  6. Energy conversion, fuel cells, biofuel cells, solar cells: Dennis Kramer and Paul Shearing
  7. Applications of electrochemistry in sensors, medicine, biology: Peter Fielden, John Hart and Petra Cameron

The symposia will provide opportunities for sharing and discuss innovative work and the opportunity to network.

There will be a Gala Dinner on the night of Monday 2 September to which all delegates are invited. The cost of the dinner is included in the registration fee, but we would ask that you confirm your attendance in advance. Additional guest places for the dinner are available for £50.


Accommodation is available in single en-suite study bedrooms at the Glen Eyre Accommodation Complex, which is just a 10 minute walk from the Highfield Campus where the lectures will take place. 
Rooms can be booked below for the nights of Sunday 1 and Monday 2 September at a price of £70 per night which includes all meals.
Please note that we are no longer taking bookings for accommodation.


Electrochemistry has played a key role the development of new technologies and in the fundamental understanding of many industrial processes. Contributions include: energy conversion and storage, sensors, new materials for advanced oxidation processes in water treatment, nanomaterials and others. The Electrodhem 2013 meeting has been the forum for young and experience electrochemists to come together to present their work and look for new opportunities to interact and learn.

The deadline for the submission of abstracts has now passed. If you have submitted an abstract and not yet heard from us if it has been accepted for presentation or not, we will be in touch before Friday 16 August.
