SCI’s Mid-Careers committee
SCI, London, UK
Everybody navigates the world differently. Our characteristics, culture, lifestyle and background affect the way we experience life. It is well regarded that greater diversity in the workplace enables more innovation, creativity, and employee satisfaction. Mentoring is a great way to enhance skill development and networking opportunities, to help overcome some challenges people, especially underrepresented employees, may face in the workplace. In some cases guidance from an mentor from a different background can help broaden your skills and give you a fresh perspective, alternatively having the chance to work with a role model who you identify with can boost self-esteem and help navigate things you have in common. Both strategies can pave the way for accelerated continuous development.
This session will look to explore how mentoring can benefit diversity and inclusion in the workplace through a series of inspiring career talks. If there are any issues you would like to be addressed, please let us know via the contact details below.
This event will be of interest to early and mid-career professionals from the biological and chemical sciences.
