Young Lipid Scientist Award


Established 2014

This award is to recognise excellence and emerging talent in research related to lipids, in any field across the physical and life sciences and engineering. Example areas include, but are not restricted to: neuroscience, digestion and metabolism, crystallisation of triacylglycerols, lipid oxidation, functioning of phospholipid membranes, compositional analysis, processing and disease prevention.

Nominated by: Self-nomination

Eligibility: Applicants must currently be studying for a PhD within the UK

Application: Submission of a 300 word abstract of the results of their research on a lipids-related theme to awards@soci.org.

Shortlisted candidates will be notified by email on 25th May 2020 and will be asked to make a 15 minute oral presentation of their research by video conference at the SCI Young Lipid Scientist Award event 2020. All those invited to give oral presentations will receive one year's complimentary membership of SCI.

Description of Award: £100 prize money, a certificate, one year's complimentary membership of SCI (worth £25), and expenses up to the value of £400 for attendance at an international conference in 2020-2021.
