Canada Outreach Award

The Outreach Award recognizes a Canadian organization, individual or team that has demonstrated sustained effort engaging the public in learning about chemistry and its impact on society.

Nominations

The competition is open to any Canadian organization, team, or person who has continually raised the awareness of the chemistry industry from an educational perspective and those who have a principal objective to further the application of chemistry and related sciences into industry for the public benefit.

The Outcomes Panel would consider: 1) Length of time this program has been in effect; 2) Demonstrated outcome to audience; and 3) Impact to industry, Canada or global perspective.

Lecture Details

The award recognises a Canadian organisation, individual or team that has demonstrated sustained effort engaging the public in learning about chemistry and its impact on society.

The 2023 winners of the Canada Community Outreach Award are: Geoffrey Rayner-Canham, Christiana Andersen and Rosalina Naqitarvik, of the Grenfell Campus, Memorial University.

Eligibility Criteria

    Background
    • Demonstrate the merits of good chemistry in the community with a sustained commitment to excellence in outreach and/or public communication
    • Impact to industry or community should be proven & evidence-based
    • The learnings can be focussed on adult or children’s learnings

The Canada International Award is presented to an individual in recognition of outstanding service and contributions in the international sphere to an industry that is based on chemistry for its processes and/or services.

Canada Student Merit Awards

The SCI Canada Student Merit Award is awarded annually to the student who has achieved the highest standing in the 4th and final year of a chemistry, biochemistry or chemical engineering undergraduate program.
